Click here to see the Audition Notice for Twelfth Night

NEW THIS YEAR:

All students participating in our main production (Neverland) will be required to take at least 1 other class with Meraki (both semesters) to work on their acting, singing and/or dancing skills. We recommend our Triple Threat program, being offered right before the Tuesday Neverland rehearsal and right before the Wednesday Neverland rehearsal, although any class at Meraki will fulfil this requirement. If you are a low-income family who requires financial assistance for the production or additional class, please apply for financial assistance through our Scholarship Program!

Audition Guide:

Please prepare both a 1 minute monologue and a 1 minute cut of a song for your audition. Below we have recommendations for certain characters. If you have a different song or monologue you’ve been preparing, that is more than welcome! We may ask to see you to read one of these monologues on the spot, so please be ready to do so if asked!

PETER:

Song Recommendation: “Happiness” - We Banjo 3 (First 55 seconds)
Monologue Recommendation:
Who’s there? Tink… (To Tink) What are you saying? Slow down. Wendy has been captured by the Pirates? I’ll rescue her! What? Oh, that’s just my medicine. Poisoned? Nonsense, Tink. Who could have poisoned it? I promised Wendy to take it and I’m going to, as soon as I’ve sharpened my dagger. (Tinkerbelle drinks the medicine) Why, Tink, you’ve drunk my medicine! What’s the matter with you? It was poisoned! You drank it to save my life. Tink… your light is growing faint, and if it goes out, I’ll lose you forever.

WENDY:

Song Recommendation: “Peter” - Taylor Swift (First minute and a half)
Monologue Recommendation:
Boy, why are you crying? What is your name? Peter Pan… so you are real! I’m Wendy. Wendy Moira Angela Darling. Where do you live?
live? The second star to the right and straight on till morning… that’s a funny address. I mean, is that what they put on the letters? Well if you don’t get letters, you mother must get letters. You don’t have a mother? Oh, Peter, no wonder you were crying. Well you’re not going to be able to get your shadow back on by using soap, I could sew it on for you if you like? This may hurt a little.

MRS. DARLING:

Song Recommendation: “Lost Boy - Ruth B” (First minute and 40 seconds)
Monologue Recommendation:
There was once a boy named Peter Pan who never grew up. He lived in Neverland with the mermaids, who could be rather jealous, and with the pirates who were most fearsome. Cruelest of them all, was the captain of the ship, and Peter Pan’s worse enemy. He had an iron hook instead of right hand, which he had lost to a beastly crocodile, so the pirates called him Captain Hook. Peter lived with the fairies and the Lost Boys. Even though they were called the Lost Boys, they weren’t necessarily all boys. Some were boys and some were girls. They were lost children who were never claimed, and Peter Pan takes care of them all. And of course they went on countless adventures.

HOOK/Mr. Darling:

Song Recommendation: Any song
Monologue Recommendation:
HOOK: I will not sleep until all those boys have walked the plank. But most of all I want their captain, Peter Pan. Oh, I have waited long to shake hands with him with my hook! My lovely hook. If I were a mother, I would pray that all children be born with this... (indicating the hook) ... instead of that. (Indicating his hand) But now I must live with this fearful dread. Not of all crocodiles, but of that one crocodile who enjoyed my hand so much that he has been following me around ever since. From land to land, from sea to sea, he follows the ship, licking his lips for the rest of me. By some stroke of pure luck, he swallowed a clock so as he approaches I hear the tick, tick, ticking in the belly of that beast.

TINKERBELL:

Song Recommendation: Any song
Monologue Recommendation:
Act out how you would tell Peter Pan the following without speaking (miming only):
Captain Hook kidnapped Wendy and the Lost Boys and put poison in your medicine, so don’t drink your medicine!

YOUNG WENDY:

Song Recommendation: Any song
Monologue Recommendation:
Mother, I’m playing with the fairies! It’s not up to me where they take me. (To the fairy) Hey, come back here, you! Oh, look a flower! Mother, look! Have you ever seen anything more beautiful in your life? Mother… you know how Peter Pan doesn’t have to grow up. I’d like to be like him!

MICHAEL:

Song Recommendation: Any song
Monologue Recommendation:
I won’t go to bed, I won’t, I won’t! Nana, it isn’t six o’clock yet. Two minutes more, please, one minute more? Nana, I won’t be bathed, I tell you I will not be bathed! I want to play house with Wendy and John. See, they’re pretending to be like mother and father. But I want to play with them too! And I do not want to take my medicine.

JOHN:

Song Recommendation: Any song
Monologue Recommendation:
Peter, you can really fly? Could you teach us to fly? Could you teach us to jump on the wind's back and away we’ll go!?! Instead of sleeping in our silly beds we might be flying about saying funny things to the stars! So how do we do it? Just think happy thoughts? That seems too simple. Happy thoughts, okay… pirates, mermaids, sailing. PRESENTS!!! And away we goooooooooo!!!!!!!!!

NARRATOR, Mermaids, LOST BOYS, SMEE & Pirates:

You may choose whatever song or monologue you like (does not have to be from our list)!
